Harnessing Youth Innovation and Technology to Transform Rwanda’s Horticulture\u00a0 Sector<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\nWe’re pleased to announce the successful conclusion of<\/span> the project: <\/span>“AI-Driven Solutions for Sustainable Horticulture in the East African Community (EAC) \u2013 Case Study of Rwanda,”<\/span><\/strong> which officially concluded on <\/span>July 18, 2025<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0This innovative initiative explored how <\/span>Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and IoT<\/span><\/strong> can transform Rwanda’s horticulture sector \u2014 with a special focus on empowering smallholder farmers and strengthening actors across the value chain. <\/span><\/span>A standout feature of this journey was the contribution of <\/span>AI Engineering interns<\/span><\/strong> from the <\/span>Northwest Skills Institute<\/span><\/strong>. These talented young innovators went far beyond expectations \u2014 from technical design and research to real-world implementation and insightful presentations. Their work was not only technically sound but purpose-driven \u2014 a powerful reminder that <\/span>when youth lead, innovation thrives<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0This project was made possible thanks to the support of <\/span>Riipen Level UP<\/span><\/strong>, in collaboration with the <\/span>NorthWest Skills Institute \u2013 CAML Program<\/span><\/strong>, and implemented b<\/span>y <\/span>IFSS<\/span><\/strong> in partnership with the <\/span>Research Centre for Integrated Development (RCID).<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the interns for their outstanding work, and our sincere thanks to all our partners for their ongoing support in making this initiative a success.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0We see this as a <\/span>launchpad<\/span><\/strong> for scaling AI-powered, sustainable farming solutions across East Africa \u2014 while keeping <\/span>youth, farmers, and local communities<\/span><\/strong> at the heart of the transformation. <\/span>At <\/span>IFSS<\/span><\/strong>, meaningful change comes from <\/span>technology rooted in community, and innovation guided by purpose<\/span><\/strong>. <\/span>The future of sustainable agriculture in East Africa looks brighter\u2014and smarter\u2014thanks to collaborations like this.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
